What do I need to make a beeswax candle?
  1. Choose what beeswax you will use. Candles can be made with most any type of wax (i.e. paraffin or beeswax).
Choose beeswax over parafin if you are looking for a clean and long lasting candle.
Blocks of beeswax will give you the ability to use a mold that best fits your needs.
Beeswax sheets will allow you to roll some of the most common types of candles but limits you on the design or look.
The advantage of using beeswax sheet are the choices of colors and textures that are more difficult to obtain with raw beeswax.
  2. Once choosing your type of wax you will need to decide the look of the candle.
If you chose beeswax sheets this is easy, most wax is rolled to form the traditional looking style of a candle.
If you chose block wax then picking a mold for your self can be fun since depending on the
occasion you can choose almost anything from a round cup look to animal molds.
  3. Pick your wicking. This also is something you need to decide on. How long or how bright do you want the candle to burn. Depending on the thickness of the wicking you choose the candle will either burn bright and for a short time or burn for a long period of time and not as bright.
