The A. I. Root Company announced the 41st Edition of their Classic Reference Book, The ABC & XYZ of Bee Culture
First published in 1877, this encyclopedia-style reference book has been in continuous publication for 130 years.
Leading the writing and editing team for the 41st Edition is Dr. Hachiro Shimanuki, USDA Honey Bee Research Leader, retired, along with a host of scientists, experts, researchers, beekeepers and others brought on board to make this the Premier reference work of its kind. To this edition has been added an enormous amount of U.S. beekeeping history, including the inventions and the inventors, many of the notable honey bee scientists and researchers, profiles of major commercial beekeeping and honey packing operations, along with many of those who made significant contributions to the beekeeping industry in the past 100+ years.
Included is a large, 2-page pullout photo of the most notable of the founding fathers, and mothers of beekeeping during the early 20th century.
Of course there’s a wealth of practical information that’s been completely updated on the fundamentals of honey bee biology, anatomy, physiology, behavior and the rest. We’ve brought in the best graphics, stunning photos, and latest findings to this edition from research sources not even published yet, but have also included the classics in anatomy and biology. Many of these are in color, but the classics remain in traditional black and white.
And then there’s the newest information on pest and predators, other species of bees and how they are used, the latest and most information on managing honey bee colonies to reduce, avoid, or eliminate diseases and pests using new, and classic IPM techniques.
